Our Story

Donut Drop was founded by two college sweethearts, Charlie and Lilian, who had zero intentions of starting their own bakery until they, on a whim, decided to help out the owners of Gurnee’s famous donut shop Gurnee Donuts. They quickly realized the enjoyment of cutting and kneading dough, icing and packing boxes with donuts, and the smiles that it drew upon people’s faces. After a year of apprenticeship, Charlie and Lilian struck out on their own, a journey that would last them two years of searching, writing proposals to cities, failed contracts, and finally landing a home for what they will call Donut Drop.

Our Concept

Donut Drop offers over 40 freshly baked donut varieties every day with unique specialty donuts, and seasonal/holiday themed donuts available occasionally to enhance your festive spirits. Customers can enjoy premium house coffee, blended by the owners themselves, to complement our sweet treats as well as a full espresso bar where you can create your perfect latte or mocha to fuel your day. In addition to donuts and coffee, Donut Drop’s insistence for freshness, also brings made-to-order breakfast sandwiches to our customers. What makes Donut Drop special is our ability to craft, play, and collaborate with our customers to create custom donuts for birthdays, company parties, and special themes. We are a full-service donut shop and will do our best to provide for your donut needs.
